Acts Affecting People with Disabilities

OLR Report 2015-R-0173 provides highlights of new state laws affecting people with disabilities enacted during the 2015 regular and special legislative sessions.

Some of the enacted laws covered in the report include:
  • a prohibition on inheritance by certain abuse perpetrators,
  • a new requirement for the State Board of Education to draft and distribute a bill of rights to students receiving special education services or their parents or guardians,
  • expanded health and behavioral therapy coverage for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, and
  • a new deposit account to help eligible individuals save private funds for qualifying expenses for disability or blindness.
