I’m Not a Code Enforcement Officer… I Just Play One On Facebook

A blogger for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on a recent effort to step up code enforcement efforts in Atlanta – an “unofficial” Facebook page that lets Atlanta residents play code enforcement officer.

On the Atlanta Code Enforcement Problems Facebook page, residents can post photos and information about code violations and problem absentee property owners.  The page “reflects the frustrations of residents who have to live near or pass by dilapidated structures, which police concede are not only eyesores that bring down already falling property values but also pose potential public health hazards, are havens for crime and erode the quality of life.”

The page is not connected with the city and it is not clear whether the city consults it when evaluating code enforcement cases.
